Research two World Views on What Happens to the Soul After Death

What happens to the soul after death? This question has been asked throughout the history of the human race. There are many opinions as to what happens after death. I want to show you some of the many speculations as to what happens to your soul after death. My goal is to see whether there is a common theme to all this and if we can draw one simple solution.


Let's look at what the afterlife is like to cultures. The concept of Death is a part of many legends and myths all over the world. Greece, Rome, Egypt, Norse, Aztec, etc. The point is that Death plays a huge role in culture. The Greeks believe that after death, the soul of the person was to wait to board a ferry across the Underworld river, The Styx. After getting to the other side of the river, the soul was to be judged based on their actions when they were alive. Souls that had done terrible deeds and great sins, they were sent to Tartarus to suffer eternally. Souls that had done nothing or were indifferent were sent to the fields of Asphodel which was for the souls who were ordinary. The souls that had done good deeds and righteousness were sent to Elysium, a paradise which bears similarities to Heaven.
