Describe a Place You Want to Visit in the Future and Why

I have always been wondering what it is like to visit Naples, Italy. The story behind why I've always wanted to visit this place is pretty surprising.

When I was 9 or 10, I was looking at famous places in the world and I came across the city of Pompeii. I was fascinated by the possibility of being able to visit one the most famous places in history. The story behind this city goes that it was once a Roman city on the side of the volcano of Mt. Vesuvius. On an early February morning in AD 79, the ground started to rumble and the volcano spewed white smoke. People assumed that it was clouds, but soon they found out their error. Later that night the volcano erupted, spewing ash and poisonous smoke. The town was buried and most of the citizens died of the toxic smog. The village was buried for centuries. Then in 1748 a surveying engineer discovered the Herculaneum which was close to Pompeii. Realizing what they found, excavators were sent to discover the remains of the village. They found the city. There were pockets of air where people and animals died so they poured plaster and extracted the molds to find the casts of the forms of people. The city was uncovered completely and is now a national landmark. Vesuvius is now an inactive volcano, but it is still an amazing piece of history.

This is the reason I wanted to visit Naples. Pompeii is part of Naples and getting the opportunity to see it in person would be incredible. I am thinking of saving the money to go to Italy and being able to achieve a dream of mine. I can't wait to see this amazing city!
